We, in Agiliway, are convinced that excellent service starts with professional and engaged employees who are ready to demonstrate discretionary behavior in their work. This is why we devote much time and resources not only to the processes of selection and hiring, team building events and celebration of success<\/a>, but also, to competency development of our employees that is an important prerequisite of job engagement. \u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The competency development has 4 consecutive stages: Evaluation, Planning, Learning and Practice.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The first step towards\u00a0developing\u00a0our\u00a0engineers\u2019\u00a0competencies\u00a0is objective evaluation of their\u00a0current knowledge and skills.\u00a0Agiliway\u00a0owns\u00a0a\u00a0Competencies\u00a0Model\u00a0<\/strong>which is a\u00a0standard defining what\u00a0knowledge\u00a0engineers\u00a0must have\u00a0and how well\u00a0they should master a\u00a0skill\u00a0to\u00a0rise to a new level\u00a0of\u00a0expertise and receive higher remuneration.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For each role (e.g. developer,\u00a0QA) and\u00a0each level of expertise within a role (junior, intermediate, and senior engineer and a technical leader),\u00a0there is\u00a0a list of required competencies along various knowledge areas\u00a0with the\u00a0indication of\u00a0how well an employee should master a corresponding skill to demonstrate talent development. For example, to pass an internal certification for a\u00a0particular level,\u00a0one\u00a0will\u00a0have to\u00a0be an \u201cexpert\u201d in one knowledge area, but it\u00a0will be enough to be \u201ccompetent\u201d or know the required minimum in another. Of course, the expectations rise with each new level.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Development Planning <\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

After\u00a0a\u00a0lead or\u00a0a\u00a0manager defines\u00a0the\u00a0engineer\u2019s\u00a0level\u00a0on each of the specified skills,\u00a0he\u00a0determines\u00a0what\u00a0competencies they still need\u00a0to develop to move to the next level.\u00a0Experts help engineers\u00a0set\u00a0learning goals for the following 3-6 months.\u00a0Such period is chosen because it allows an expert to evaluate the ongoing and planned projects of the company and advice on the arias, in which an employee can then get a hand-on practice.\u00a0HR specialists\u00a0monitor\u00a0the process to\u00a0make sure all the aspects\u00a0and\u00a0all the\u00a0employees\u00a0are\u00a0taken into consideration.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Learning<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The\u00a0company further assists the employees on their way\u00a0of developing new competencies. Namely, as part of competency management,\u00a0Agiliway\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

  1. provides\u00a0internal library\u00a0which contains\u00a0books\u00a0(hard copy or in electronic format)\u00a0and links to internet resources<\/strong>\u00a0that\u00a0employees can use for competency development (links can be followed directly from the\u00a0Competency\u00a0Model);<\/li>\r\n
  2. regularly practices meetups<\/strong>, on which employees who have developed expertise in a certain area share their knowledge and experience with other members of a team who need it for their work; \u00a0<\/li>\r\n
  3. covers employees\u2019 expenses on training and courses<\/strong>, which they need for their development; \u00a0<\/li>\r\n
  4. carefully monitors and regularly attends various thematic conferences<\/strong>, where developers can gain additional first-hand insights into relevant technologies, communicate and establish contacts with fellow engineers, and receive answers to their questions;<\/li>\r\n
  5. provides professional tutors of English<\/strong> who conduct one to one and group classes helping employees develop stronger language competencies. The classes are not only free for the employees, but they are also counted towards the employees\u2019 working time.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Practice <\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    To develop a skill, engineers need not only a theoretical knowledge, but also the experience of applying it on the job.\u00a0This is why\u00a0the next\u00a0important step in competency management\u00a0is\u00a0practice.\u00a0Our engineers work closely with technical leaders who determine where they can practice the newly acquired skills.\u00a0Gaining\u00a0practical experience\u00a0our engineers\u00a0can consolidate new knowledge and skills and become even more motivated to develop further.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
