Agiliway is proud to officially announce that we have opened a new branch in Krakow, Poland. This has been a long-awaited event and a significant step in extending further to the EU market. The recent Russian attacks on Ukraine accelerated the company’s decision to open a new location a bit sooner than was planned. So, here’s the company’s management statement:
Sergiy Korniyenko, CEO and Co-Founder of Agiliway, on why the company needed to have a development center in Poland:
“The first steps toward opening our office in an EU country were made in autumn last year due to the increasing salaries and competition in the Ukrainian software development market. Therefore, to expand the Agiliway operation’s capacity and gain more European clients we decided to explore the neighboring countries to start doing business there as well. After performing a thorough market analysis, we chose Poland as our next destination outside Ukraine based on its proximity to our location in Lviv. Early February we’ve started the registration process of our branch in Krakow. The current situation in Ukraine became a trigger to boost the process under BCP. As of today, we already have over a dozen of Agiliway team members relocated to Poland. We are also planning to expand our team there and hire Polish engineers as well as from the EU countries. However, we need to understand that hiring our team in Poland would lead to higher costs since the tax rates, social contributions, healthcare, and other expenses are higher rather than in Ukraine. Yet, our partners can be sure to receive the same high-quality service along with mitigated risks while cooperating with the EU-based company.”
So, why did we choose Poland and what would this give to our clients?
Polish IT market
Besides being one of the largest countries in Europe, Poland is considered a global phenomenon in terms of its economic sustainability and growth even during full-scale crises worldwide. The country is getting more attention among the TOP destinations for international businesses owing to its well-developed infrastructure, high-skilled specialists, and convenient geographical location. Especially, when we talk about the ICT sector which is flexible and grows steadily regardless of what’s going on in the world.
As of 2020, the Polish tech market grew to around $19.3 billion and increased its value by at least 5% in 2021. The presence of global giants like Microsoft, IBM, Google, and HP is a huge advantage for the industry here and reveals its great potential.
A vast talent pool, European mindset and necessary variety of skills shape a perfect environment for the tech industry here. The high English level of the local engineers also attracts more and more western clients. Currently, the total number of IT specialists in Poland amounts to around 295,000 experts. Although this number is continually increasing, there is still a significant deficit of specialists to cover the existing demand for qualified software developers. The major tech hubs of Poland are Warsaw, Krakow, Gdansk, Lodz, Wroclaw, therefore the companies are distributed more or less evenly all over the country.
Now Agiliway is in its 7th year of growth and development. We are already present in Lviv, Chernivtsi, Ukraine, and Austin, Texas. And now in Krakow. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality solutions and services, cherish our corporate culture and values and take care of our team.
Since our start in 2015 with just 5 people, we grew to way over 200 team members, expanded our service scope, successfully completed a wide range of projects, and got a number of long-term and regular active clients from the US and Europe. Last year we passed the ISO 27001:2013 certification as the acknowledgment of a company’s data security and process management and recently we were recognized as Microsoft Gold Partner – as a recognition of another milestone in showing our clients the highest level of expertise and customer service.
For the past 6 years, the Agiliway development team has grown to over 200 specialists and we continue hiring. This long-standing intention will only ensure constant delivery of high-quality services along with risks mitigation while collaborating with the EU-based company. Opening a branch in Poland is another significant milestone for Agiliway, which allows us to expand to the EU market and grow our presence there.
